Pemphigus Vulgaris is an exceedingly painful, blistering rare skin disease. It is a chronic disease which if left untreated can lead to severe debility and death. Prolonged discomfort is an unfortunate fact of life for those who have this disease. For more information on Pemphigus Vulgaris check out http://www.pemphigus.org
After research, with the help of a family friend who is a Doctor, we found out that some farmers in Saskatchewan were also suffering from the disease. It had been linked to the chemicals in the sheep dip product that they were using once a year to wash their sheep to get rid of lice, bugs etc. My father always wore a cap which he kept on the fence posts when dipping, we think he may have got some of the chemical on his hands or cap and then had a scratch on his face where the chemical entered. His painful blisters started in this area. With the help of a homeopath and his Doctor, my dad managed his skin condition very well. He never complained but I am sure it was very painful.
There has been a substantial increase in the incidence of both bullous pemphigoid and pemphigus vulgaris since 1996. We need to be aware of the chemicals in our environment and the effect they are having on our bodies. I hope to inform my Clients of current trends and help them to lead healthy and happy lives free from annoying or life threatening skin conditions!
